Short Story 2,500 word maximum, any genre.
Creative Nonfiction 2,500 word maximum. Submissions in this genre could include (but are not limited to) memoir, food or travel writing, personal essays, new journalism, biography, nonfiction stories, and nature writing. The emphasis in creative nonfiction is on factually true yet elegant literary expression.
Children’s Picture Books for ages for ages 4-8, with 1,500 word maximum. Submit only the text that would accompany artwork. 12-point simple font only. (Note: We offer children’s chapter book competition in alternate years.)
Note: members of the Tallahassee Writers Association receive a price break on entries, but no preference in judging. All judging is blind.
Flash Fiction 500 word maximum, any genre.
Submit electronically through Submittable.

- Author’s name is not to appear on manuscript pages.
- Fee of $17 per submission, nonmembers. $12 TWA members with paid dues.
