What's New---

Creative nonfiction Workshop

Creative nonfiction is a work of factual literary prose. Unlike other types of nonfiction, such as technical writing or journalism, the emphasis in creative nonfiction is on factually true yet elegant literary expression.  This genre could include (but are not limited to) memoir, food or travel writing, personal essays, new journalism, biography, nonfiction stories, and nature writing.

Note---If you would like more information on "writing creative nonfiction", Karen Schneider will present a workshop on the topic August 9 from 1-4 p.m. at the Leon County Library. It is free and open to all.

An Evening of New Irish Plays
Co-sponsored by Tallahassee Writers Association and Tallahassee Irish Society, two selected plays from the first Celtic Knots Playwriting Competition will be presented Thursday, August 21, 7 pm, at the American Legion, 606 Lake Ella Drive.   Well-known theatre professional Chuck Olsen will direct the two new plays and is working closely with the two playwrights to develop fully the motivation of their vision.
TWA member Ted Simmons’ drama Red Fox and Brown is one of the two selected plays.  Arlene Kalem’s play The Selkie is based on an Irish mythological figure.
The Evening of New Irish Plays is open to the public and to all TWA members at no charge.   A cash bar and refreshments will be available.
